Goodbye! That’s my last post because the course is about to end. The last thing I am going to explain is my PLE placed in my Symbaloo.
A Symbaloo it’s a webpage where you have a lot of tiles and inside of them, as you can see, you can link different webpages or documents.

I have divided my Symbaloo into five different main parts:

  1. The websites I have discovered recently and I haven’t used too much.
  2. The reading corner and the activity book part.
  3. The websites I use more nowadays and the ones that I like more.
  4. The songs and listening part.
  5.  The tasks of the subject part.
The choice to divide it like this was because then it’s easier for me to find everything, and also because maybe not all the new websites I have discovered are going to be useful so then I can erase them easily without the need of moving everything

Ending the use of this blog and also this subject I can conclude that it has been really useful using Symbaloo to have my PLE because it’s very visual and easy to use. I have also learned lots of resources to use in my future as a teacher and lots of interesting and new methodologies.
Hello! Today I’m going to introduce you to some different websites useful also for teaching English. I’m not going to base this publication in one topic like the other days instead of that I will explain a resources web, an English activity book and a listening resources web.

First I will talk about TES. This website is similar to Twinkl because you have a big amount of different resources for diverse topics and all of them based on the English curriculum. The big difference I see with the other website is that it’s less visual so it’s more difficult to find everything you want, despite that the resources are lovely and very interesting.

The second thing I want to introduce you is to Little Bridge. It’s not only an activity book but also a webpage where each teacher can create an online group to assign all the activities the teacher wants and the student can also surf through the virtual world of the website. I found it interesting because I don’t work with books because I’m not a teacher yet but it’s useful to start knowing some activity books for the work in class.

Finally, the last webpage is useful for listening resources, it’s called 1 2 3 listening. The structure of the webpage is similar to the one that we saw in another post, Tools for educators. There, you can find lots of listening and create your own answer sheets for them. I think that it’s really important to develop the listening skill in class and this is a useful tool to use.

Hello! Today I’m going to introduce you into a new resource. This time is not a website instead of that I’ve chosen a YouTube channel where you can find all the Super Simple songs for free.

This is a very useful resource to use because you can find all types of songs to work with everything like Christmas, Halloween, animals, numbers or routines.

Using this songs I think it’s a way to motivate children while at the same time they are learning. Also, if they are motivated you can introduce them into a new topic easily. But, you can also use them for warming up activities to work with different routines.

Seeing the importance of working with songs in class I searched for more resources and I found more interesting ones, Patty Shukla Kids Music and Dream English.

There you can find a big amount of videos to work with everything I have talked above. So, I think that it’s very interesting to use songs in class and very easy to find new ones because, as you have seen, there are lots of places to search.

Hello again! Today I’m going to introduce you to an amazing website of resources, for me one of the best and the one that I use most for the English classes I am doing at the moment.

That website is Twinkl an English website where you can find lots of activities, games and resource packs for almost everything you can think about when you are teaching English. It’s based on the English curriculum so you can find it divided into the English stages.

The only bad thing about it is that if you want to download everything you find there you have to pay but, in my opinion, it is worthy.

Obviously, as I have said for me Twinkl is in the first place but I want to introduce you also to another interesting website, Tools for educators. In this webpage you don’t have all the resources done like in Twinkl but you have a lot of templates to design it by yourself.

I found it interesting because you can create lots of sheets like, reading worksheets, printable games or hand-outs. You have it without anything and then you can put the vocabulary you want to use and the website gives you the image also for this words.

Hello again! After a couple of weeks with some lessons cancelled and two different teachers in class I can write again some things that we had been taught about storytelling.
We had some examples about the advantages of working with it in class like:
  • Giving motivation to pupils and engage them.
  • Teaching pronunciation.
  • Providing the chance to connect English with other subjects.
  • Making the children work together.

We were introduced also to some books like Are you my mother? Or The great pet sale. With that examples we were able to see that repetition is really important in these stories and also the fact of having some rhythm.

I think that it’s a really useful subject to talk about because storytelling works very well with children and it makes them love reading so that increasing the curiosity about reading. Also, there are lots of resources to work with it and it’s easy to create lots of them by ourselves or with children in class.

From that session then I had the idea of creating a tile in my Symbaloo related to storytelling. This tile will lead to a document where I am going to put the books I find interesting to read for children, in the document I will include the title of the book an image and a website with further information. I had the idea of calling that document the reading corner because it’s going to be like my personal virtual library.

Welcome to the weekly blog of ELT Methodology from myself, Clara a student of Primary Education at the University of Barcelona.  My aim is to explain and show the things that I point out from this subject.

The first thing I want to show you comes from a presentation we had about some interesting websites to use with children or for ourselves as future teachers. I found it interesting because really useful websites were shown to us. To summarize it I am going to introduce you two of them blubbr.tv and storybird.

Blubbr.tv gives you the option of making a game show with videos and questions that you choose or create. The program puts it all together and give you time to answer each question and a punctuation for each pupil.

Example of a quiz in blubbr.tv

Storybird is an amazing website with lots of nice pictures created by some artists. With that pictures you can create a story tale and then save it for you. I found this one really interesting because it gives you the option of making some stories for your pupils or to create a story  with your pupils in class.

Example of how to create a story in storybird
