Hello again! After a couple of weeks with some lessons
cancelled and two different teachers in class I can write again some things
that we had been taught about storytelling.
We had some examples about the advantages of working
with it in class like:
- Giving motivation to pupils and engage them.
- Teaching pronunciation.
- Providing the chance to connect English with other subjects.
- Making the children work together.
We were introduced also to some books like Are you my mother? Or The great pet sale. With that examples
we were able to see that repetition is really important in these stories and
also the fact of having some rhythm.
I think that it’s a really useful subject to
talk about because storytelling works very well with children and it makes them
love reading so that increasing the curiosity about reading. Also, there are
lots of resources to work with it and it’s easy to create lots of them by
ourselves or with children in class.
From that session then I had
the idea of creating a tile in my Symbaloo related to storytelling. This tile
will lead to a document where I am going to put the books I find interesting to
read for children, in the document I will include the title of the book an
image and a website with further information. I had the idea of calling that
document the reading corner because it’s going to be like my personal virtual
library.
